A sort of Stoptober

More of an experiment, really.

Managed to get quite a few yellow sticker meat/poultry things last week, which have all been portioned up and frozen.  And of course loads of homegrown fruit and veg prepped, cooked where necessary and also frozen or made into jams or chutneys.  Did an Approved Food order and stocked up on tins, packets and flour, and went to Wilkos for toiletries and washing/cleaning supplies.  So the fridge, freezers and cupboards are pretty much bursting at the seams right now, and we still have lots of veg and apples to come from the garden.  We also have lots of dog food, dried and frozen homemade.

In theory then, we shouldn't need to buy anything except dairy for the next few weeks.  I'm going to see if we can do just that, only go shopping when necessary and keep all receipts so I can see what we've spent at the end of October.

Shame we can't keep a cow and a goat in the garden!  :-))

  2. If you only shop from your items at home, except diary, I reckon you might easily be able to have a very low spend month.

  3. Good luck, September is our month for stocking up on cleaning and store cupboard items, to last until the new year,October we ensure freezer is good, leaving November and December for Christmas purchases.

  4. I'm stocking up the cupboards but running down the freezers now so that I can switch them off and clean them before I start filling them ready for winter. I want to use every scrap up so there may be some quite interesting meals being served here...lol.
